Kim Walker Psychologist (BSc. Psych PostGradDip Psych) MAPS

Kim Walker is the owner of Fit Psychology and has been a registered Psychologist since 2002. She opened Fit Psychology in 2013. The business was developed as a product of Kim’s passion to work with people to improve their mental health, in the hope that this would also have a positive impact on their overall quality of life and physical health.

Depression, anxiety and other mental health issues

Kim has worked in a number of roles providing services to both children and adults within the Queensland Mental Health Services. She has continued to provide support and treatment for mental health issues in private practice.

Given the ever increasing rate of obesity and its associated physical and mental health consequences, Kim wanted to provide a service that acknowledges the important role that psychology can play in this area.

Kim believes in working with clients in a way that takes into account the systems they live and work in. This includes their personal relationships, working and community lives. While it is important to acknowledge and work on what is happening within the persons own psychological processes, it is also fundamental to acknowledge and assess the impacts of these other areas to create long lasting positive change.

On a personal level, Kim has been involved in the fitness industry since 2005. She is currently training to compete in Olympic Weightlifting at the World Masters Games in Auckland this year. She holds 3 State records for her age and weight category, and recently won the 2016 State Masters Championship for her age and weight category. She enjoys living a healthy and active lifestyle and advocates the benefits of this for optimal physical and mental health.

Our mission at Fit Psychology is to provide a supportive environment for people to make positive changes to their health behaviours to enhance their quality of life.
